Care for a Stargazer Lily

Overview
Stargazer lilies are an Oriental hybrid. Their blooms gaze at the sky. They will bloom for 2 or more weeks. Pink stargazers stand for wealth, prosperity and a sign of aspiration. The rare white stargazer lily symbolizes purity and sympathy. These beautiful flowers will be the center of attention in any flower garden or in a container.
Step 1
Choose a location for your lily where it can get 6 hours of direct sunlight.
Step 2
Prepare your soil 6 to 8 inches deep. Remove rocks and debris. Make sure it has adequate drainage.
Step 3
Add well-rotted manure or compost to your soil.
Step 4
Plant your bulbs in early spring. Add a teaspoon of bone meal, and plant your bulbs 6 to 8 inches deep. Make sure the bulbs are placed pointed end up.
Step 5
Keep the soil evenly moist until the first leaves appear. Water when the soil gets dry.
Step 6
Fertilize when there is new growth and before blooming.
Step 7
Remove old blooms when they lose their color or begin to lose petals.
Step 8
Cut plants to soil level when the leaves turn brown.
Step 9
Mulch your lily with dead leaves, mulch or hay during the winter.
